A Preview of what’s to come

So on Saturday I had the opportunity to go to my best friend’s food tasting for her upcoming wedding in June. The place was beautifully decorated as if there were a real wedding going on. They had a variety of table setting options. Each table was decorated very unique this gave her possible options or ideas of what her Table would look like on her wedding day. Just being there made me excited and put me in the wedding mood. I honestly can’t wait to get married! There were Hors d'oeuvres being served by people in suits and bowties. There were entrée stations, desert stations; candy stations a martini bar a wine tasting and an open bar. Pretty much there was a good amount of food and alcohol to go around. There were plenty of people to take advantage of all of this including us, 250 people to be exact. My best friend (Stephanie) went there with her mind made up with the entrée she would be serving her guests on her big day. But a funny thing happened why the idea of a food tasting is a great idea. She decided against her original decision and chose something else. I do not want to divulge too much info because I want those who are invited to be pleasantly surprised.

This was a very nice way to spend my Saturday afternoon. We took advantage of the open bar I came on an empty stomach and left with a full one. We talked laughed sipped ate got ideas and saw the actual vision. I just can’t wait for the actual wedding day.

Congratulations Stephanie and Adler, <3  xoxoxoxox <3

My plate I wish I had some more. The strawberry short cake was amazing!

Chocolate Covered strawberries, My Kryptonite! I had about 4 of these but whose counting

A funny thing happened when Stephanie and Adler were at the cake stations. So there were only 2 stations from 2 places one was Montilios Bakery and the other was from konditormeister. Stephanie was staning in fron of one and Adler in front of the other both talking about what cakes they would like. both were looking at each other waning each other to come over to the station they were standing in front of. it was kind of funny as the representatives from each bakery including me looked on. Hope you guys figure it out lol.

mmmmmmh Chocolate!

I had 3 Cosmo's
Something I wish I took a picture of was the ice sculpture that was at the martini station. It was not only art work but it was part of the drink process. The bartender mixed the drink and poured it in the ice sculpture in a martini glass. I had a wedding cake martini love the name not the martini so much, too much amaretto.

That’s it xoxoxox Izzy <3

A day in the City (Boston)

So yesterday I spent the day in Boston with one of my Besties. I have driven into Boston on many occasions but this time I spent the day through different eyes. Eyes that I have a new found respect for. We took the train in and walk around the city. When we got off the train we pulled out the gps on our phones. My friend downloaded this App called HOPSTOP. It was weird but walking around an already familiar area we felt like tourists. Once we got our bearing straight and cheating once by taking a cab (literally up the street for 3.80) we enjoy the day exploring and taking pictures. We could not even feel the snow or the cold.  I enjoyed my city even more than before and found a new found respect for people who take public transportation walk and bike everywhere. I was one with them the city yesterday and loved every moment of it. Things that that I would normally speed by in my car I was able to stop take in and enjoy. You should try this some time.

I dedicate this to my Bestie NEEK  aka Effing Fashion <3

Gym Flow

Go hard  or go home! or at least make the effort
Today’s weight: 122.6 goal: 105 with lots of muscle definition

So today I went to the gym to start my 4 week routine. I started at 9:15 with a weight lifting class called Power. I felt like such a rookie with the weights everything felt heavy then my muscles started to burn. I took little breaks not long ones because I did not want anyone to judge me not saying they would but I definitely did not want to look like a rookie. After the hour lifting class I moved over to the treadmill and set my time for an hour. I was going good and strong while watching law and order on the TV. I had 20minuets left when this guy came and ruined my flow. In the middle of my fast paced walk and the ever increasing plot on law and order he comes up and switches the channel to ESPN, "WTF!" I said to myself. He did not even ask me if I was watching it.  He was such a show off too while the speed on my treadmill was a measly 4.2 he had his speed on 9 and was sprinting like he was in a track meet all while ESPN was on I mean the PAT's  are out who cares about ESPN, REALLY!? I turned my Ipod all the way up and Knaye’s Power was on, how fitting because my weight lifting class is called power. Next on the Play list was Nicki Minaj’s Romans Revenge this got me pumped I so badly wanted to sprint too on the treadmill but I have this recurring night mare that I attempt to sprint on the treadmill and bust my ass and fall off.  All in all two and a half hours and 600 calories later I feel great!
If I see some good results after 4 weeks I will be incorporating this into a life routine.
Dislike:  Pitbull played during my lifting class, Boooo!

Bon Appetit: I have also switch up my diet incorporating more salads. above is an avacado salad and miso soup. I started the morning with an egg white omlet with tomatoes and ham.

Well thats it xoxoxox IZZY

Happy Martin Luther King Day

Happy Martin Luther King Day

I know MLK day was Monday but I think every day is a representation of his influence on our lives.
One of my favorite quotes: “In the End we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends”-Martin Luther King Jr

One of the first times I saw this quote was at the beginning of a move called Sometimes in April. A movie about the Hutu’s and the Tutsi’s the  Rwandan GENOCIDE. As I watch this movie about betrayal, destruction, hurt, sadness and ultimately GENOCIDE. I realized how perfectly fitting this quote was for this movie. I cried as I usually do when I watch  sad movies but the fact this was real and really happened saddens me as well. I remember back in college in my Gender race and crime class our professor showed us actual footage of the GENOCIDE in Rwanda and that brought a tear to my eye as well.

Martin Luther King played a big role in how things are today we just have to make sure we do not let history repeat itself.

Random Facts about Martin Luther King:

·         Behind Every man is a strong Woman: Coretta Scott King

·         Martin Luther King adapted a lot of his non violent practices from Gandhi  (Satyagraha)

·         Martin Luther King was an Alpha
·         He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta Georgia
·         He graduated from college at 19
·         He attended Boston University working to get his PHD this is where he met his wife Coretta Scott soon to be King
A few pictures from my trip to Atlanta:

Martin Luther king’s memorial and the outside of Ebenezer’s Baptist church. Unfortunately the church was under renovation so we were unable to go inside. Our tour guide told us that some family members still attend the church. We also visited his 12 bedroom house up the street that he grew up in. so happy I was able to see these things when I went to Atlanta.
